Villa Balbianello

The villa was built in 1787 on a pre-existing Franciscan monastery.
At the beginning of the 20th century the
property fell into a state of neglect until it was bought by the explorer Guido Monzino. He wanted to create a national focus for geographic research. He died leaving it to the Italian Environment Fund.
